The Center for Hearing and Speech (CHS) in Houston is looking for a student in a social sciences or business-related field. Applicants interested in gaining a real hands-on experience in non-profit volunteer management and outreach are preferred. Internship is unpaid; college credit may be obtained.

Duties will include volunteer communication, orientation and assignments for the Project TALK Summer Camp, July 20-24, volunteer project needs assessment, and volunteer recruitment. The candidate will gain an understanding of the inner-workings of a non-profit from top to bottom, and will work closely with the CHS Development Department.



The candidate should possess strong communication and organizational skills, be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and have the ability to work independently and efficiently. A previous knowledge of Microsoft Office products is required. Knowledge of SQL database software and Photoshop is not required, but is preferred.

The position will require an average of 20 hours per week from mid-May to mid-August (summer semester) and the work schedule is flexible.
