Elizabeth Jones – HoustonTexas

Elizabeth Jones used art-making to fill the lonely spaces, created by moving frequently as she was growing up. She won her first art award in 4th grade and was later told by high school teachers that she “must do something in art”. She is currently pursuing an Art degree and teacher certification at the University of Houston. She is a student-teacher at Cy-Falls High school in the drawing and painting room, and plans to teach her own high school art classes beginning next year. Her favorite art form is the children’s picture book, which she believes is like opening fantastic mini personal art museums to each individual who looks at them. Picture books and illustrators who create dynamic, emotional, and humorous illustrations, such as Quinten Blake and William Steig, have been the biggest influences on her art. She is working on writing and illustrating picture books herself. One of her works (a relief print) was selected for the Printers of Tomorrow juried exhibition in 2015.
