Brenda Melgar is a native Houstonian who learned her way around an art studio from a very young age. What began as an interest in art flourished as Brenda took art courses all the way through high school. She began work as a street painter in 2007 through a Via Colori High School Art Competition.

Since that first year, when her fingers hit the pavement, Brenda has continued to join Via Colori artists annually on the streets of Houston. When asked why she is attracted to come back each year, Brenda has this to say: "I love that I can use my God-given talents to give back to the community. Knowing that I am helping deaf children in such a beautiful way, makes me want to be more creative, imaginative, and colorful for them. I want them to show up to Via Colori with their families and just be in awe of how much people care for each and every one of them! "

During her spare time, she creates artwork for clients. Just in the last 5 years, she has created paintings live (on stage, in real time) for church audiences across Texas. Brenda also uses her talents to illustrate children's books and to create real-time sketch notes for church services. When she is not creating art for others, Brenda enjoys cooking, gardening, and being a mom to her silly and sweet one year old son, Ramsey.
