Deloitte is a company dedicated to providing audit, consulting, financial advisory, risk management and tax services to clients. Every year, Deloitte participates in Impact Day, when the company’s employees volunteer at more than 800 agencies across the nation.

On June 6, 2014, The Center for Hearing and Speech was fortunate enough to have 30 Deloitte volunteers help on multiple projects. Helping hearing-impaired children is close to Nichelle McLemore’s heart as she not only works for Deloitte as a Client Relationship Executive, but she also has a daughter entrolled in The Melinda Webb School.

With McLemore’s planning and Deloitte’s dedication to improving The Center for Hearing and Speech, Deloitte employees participated in many significant skills-based volunteer projects:

  • Social Media  analysis
  • Website review
  • Making calls for the CHS CARES! Hearing Aid Recycling Program
  • Create presentions for Via Colori and the Speech Clinic
  • Create school-wide data reporting templates for The Melinda Webb School

In addition to the skills-based volunteer projects, two groups rebuilt a playground deck for the school and redecorated the hallway bulletin boards for summer.

Deloitte volunteers arrived at The Center at 8:30 a.m. and received special thanks from The Center’s Executive Director Renée Davis.. By 9:00 a.m. volunteers broke into groups and began their tasks. The day wrapped up around 3:00 p.m.

”We are so grateful for Deloitte’s time and dedication to CHS. They have opened our eyes to skills-based volunteer projects, and we look forward to implementing their ideas,” said Tany Klaes, Volunteer Manager.

The Center for Hearing and Speech wants to give special thanks to a few of Deloitte’s dedicated employees who helped organize and prepare the projects: Nichelle McLemore, Amanda Kupchella, Andrew Hooper, Nikki Beck, Surveen Singh and Mia Velasquez!
