andresbatista3.jpgAndres Bautista is a local artist and Art teacher art at Landrum Middle School and has been a Via Colori artist since the event’s inception in 2006.  In addition to sharing his artistic vision, Andres also takes advantage of the teaching element of our festival and brings his classroom to the streets of downtown.  He strategically incorporates his zeal for art and his Latin roots with his love for his students, many of whom come from underserved areas of our city, by teaching them the art of street painting.

Kristin Midgett, LINN Energy’s Community Relations and Internal Communications Representative had the fortunate opportunity to meet Andres at a special event Linn hosted for the American Heart Association. She was blown away by the incredible piece he created and struck up a partnership with Andres to represent their company at the 2012 festival.  She spoke passionately about his involvement and said, “What confirmed for me that he should be LINN’s featured artist was the knowledge that he brings his students to participate with him in the Street Painting festival.  The mentorship he provides his students reflects his passion for those children as well as his art.   We are honored to have Andres as our featured artist and hope that he will partner with us for many years to come.”

From all of us at CHS and Linn Energy, please join us in welcoming Andres who will return once again with some select students to create an extraordinary, collaborative street painting.
