Via Apprendista
Each year, Houston Via Colori includes a high school art component that showcases young talent in an area called Via Apprendista.
We believe Via Apprendista is a wonderful way to support emerging high school artists in a different style of art while also providing them the opportunity to work side by side professional artists. Participating teachers select one young artist from their school/district.The art student is awarded the opportunity to recreate their art in a 6 foot square on the streets of downtown for thousands to view and appreciate.
Students work with a Via Apprendista art mentor who gives the young artist special attention and useful techniques to shape their craft. In addition, this year your students will have the opportunity to take a tour of the Art Institute prior to the festival and have lunch with their alumni during the weekend. This is an opportunity and learning experience like no other for your art students.
Budding artists from fourteen Houston area high schools and school districts are chosen as part of the Via Apprendista High School Area.
