National Volunteer Week is April 23-29! The creator of National Volunteer Week, Points of Light, says the week is an opportunity to recognize and thank volunteers who lend their time, talent, voice and support to causes they care about in their community.

This year's theme, Service Unites, captures the power of changemakers to come together to build stronger, more vibrant communities through service.

Here are some stats about the volunteer program at CHS last year:

  • 853 total volunteers
  • 12,923.25 hours volunteered
  • 150 new volunteers applied
  • 685 CHS employees, individuals and groups spent more than 2,820 hours volunteering for the Houston Via Colori Street Painting Festival
  • 13 corporate and service groups sent 247 volunteers to donate 1,025 hours
  • We hosted our first celebration to thank all of our volunteers, staff and individuals, with a pizza party and raffle prizes donated by local businesses

We are so grateful for our many amazing volunteers and are thanking them for their hard work and commitment to the kids we serve. Be sure to follow us on social media where we'll be sharing some of our powerful volunteer stories throughout the week. Share your personal CHS story with us on social media by using #CHSNVW.
