Ana Quintanilla, a Communication Sciences & Disorders graduate from Baylor University, is one of our amazing Teaching Assistant volunteers at the Melinda Webb School and a volunteer Spanish translator in the Audiology Clinic. She decided to volunteer at the Center because of the dynamic and caring team at CHS. From the teachers, parents, clinicians and volunteers, she sees that everyone is truly devoted and integrated to work as a team.
At the Center, Ana has learned the importance of teamwork and the tremendous impact on a child's developing speech and language skills. Her favorite experience as a volunteer has been witnessing the developing relationships among the teachers and their students. It has helped her obtain a better perspective of how exposure to early education helps develop young minds. She says, “You may hear a lot about it throughout your college education, but this is truly a unique and extraordinary experience.”
Ana hopes that her experience at the Center will help her strengthen her skills to improve conditions for others, whether it be for clinicians, office workers and/or a general population that is in need.
Fun Fact: Ana enjoys long runs on Sunday mornings with her dog, Laika. She is very passionate about Jiu Jitsu as a sport and martial art. She is also a coffee and Hot Cheetos addict and is currently focused and working on her Hot Cheetos fixation!
