Today is Giving Tuesday and we're taking time today to give thanks to our many amazing supporters!
If you've never heard of Giving Tuesday, it is a "global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving."
We started off the day by giving thanks to our amazing staff. CHS has less than 75 employees, but our small staff accomplishes so much. For instance, in 2015 alone CHS:
- Served 8,674total clients from 253 zip codes in 31 counties
- Provided free hearing screenings to more than 7,000children
- Provided speech therapy to 255children
- Served 52hearing-impaired infants through the RiteCare Infant Program
- Educated 56children with hearing loss in the Melinda Webb School, with 13 graduating the program and moving into their neighborhood schools
We are so grateful for our staff who come to work everyday excited and ready to help the precious children and families we serve.
Our wonderful board members will also be giving thanks to our donors all day today. Because of generous individual and group donors, we were able to raise more than $400,000 at our most recent fundraiser, Via Colori. CHS does not receive government funding, so we could not accomplish our mission without tremendous donor support. We hope to continue serving more and more children with hearing loss in the future, which is why we are appreciative of any gifts you'd like to give this holiday season on behalf of yourself or someone else.
We are also thanking our amazing clients by providing refreshments in our lobby throughout the day. We truly enjoy getting to know each family that comes through our doors on a personal level and helping guide them every step of the way on this journey.
