Erin Lafferty

Lafferty is one of the academic teachers for the Discovery Rooms at The Melinda Webb School. She has been educating young children since 1997. Prior to working at The Center for Hearing and Speech, she taught in public schools for 10 years. Lafferty received her Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Southern Mississippi. She also is certified to teach children learning English as a Second Language (ESL). She has been trained on educating children with hearing impairments, including training from the Alexander Graham Bell Conference and The Moog Center for the Deaf. At CHS, Lafferty teaches an early childhood curriculum while reinforcing critical language targets, in addition she checks and monitors the students’ amplification and provides parent education through conferences, observation and monthly meetings. Her connection to her work is strengthened due to the fact that her only niece received a cochlear implant at the age of three. Currently, Lafferty resides in Friendswood, TX with her husband and three children.
