Pam Black

Black started working at The Center for Hearing and Speech in 2001. She has a degree from the University of Houston in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Certification in teaching Early Childhood through Fourth Grade. Black became interested in working with children with hearing impairments during her first year of college, while working at CHS day care. She then became a teacher’s assistant and continued to study and train with the skilled teachers at The Melinda Webb School. Black completed her student teaching at CHS and continued on to become a MWS Discovery Room teacher. She has received many types of training and continuing education including from the Alexander Graham Bell Convention and The Moog School for the Deaf. At MWS, Black is responsible for incorporating the student’s language goals into her academic curriculum, as well as working closely with the language teachers, meeting with the parents at parent conferences and Teatime with the Teachers. She also is the Transition Coordinator for the school and helps all children, parents and future schools make a smooth transition using through the CHS transition program: Journey, A Bridge Between School Environments.
