Auditory-Verbal Intern

Cantu has a Master's in speech-language pathology from the University of Houston. While studying to be a speech-language pathologist, she participated in a semester-long internship at The Center for Hearing and Speech. Currently, Cantu is completing her clinical fellowship year at CHS and studying to become a certified Auditory-Verbal Therapist. She has attended several conferences to increase her knowledge base in auditory-verbal therapy, like the Alabama Ear Institute 2007 Summer Institute in Auditory-Verbal Therapy. During the Institute, Cantu studied numerous subjects related to auditory-verbal therapy and participated in intensive therapy training sessions with certified Auditory-Verbal Therapists. She was a co-presentor at the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing 2009 Annual Convention on Aural Rehabilitation for School Aged Children Receiving a Second Cochlear Implant. Her CHS responsibilities include conducting assessments, providing clinical services, serving as a member of the Cochlear Implant Team and coordinating professional education.
